Rohan Sippy: Akshay has brought his genius to CC2C

While RAB NE BANA DI JODI is already a Superhit and GHAJINI is on the way to become one, Bollywood is looking at a hat trick of big money spinners with Akshay Kumar bringing his CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA in three weeks from now. In a way it is quite deserving for Top–3 stars of the country to be giving back to back big hits, especially in the time when recession has impacted Bollywood too in a big way. No wonder, Rohan Sippy, producer of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, is mighty excited about the prospects of his film and credits Akshay Kumar for the way it has eventually turned out to be.

“Akshay has brought in his own energy, his genius to the film”, says Rohan Sippy when quizzed about Akshay’s contribution to the making of the film, not just as an actor but also as someone who actively gets himself involved into the creative aspect of making the film.

“To begin with, there were no restrictions of any kind when CC2C was being made”, reveals Rohan, “At every stage of the film, we were open to any ideas that could help it grow further. Akshay would in fact come up with suggestions during the shots and also improvise a lot. Some of the ideas were the kind that were not on paper or anyone’s mind but when Akshay incorporated them, they took the film to a different high.”

How did Nikhil Advani, the film’s director, respond to such ‘involvement’? Didn’t he resent it?

“Akshay would always bounce off ideas and most of the time Nikhil enjoyed them. When he didn’t, he shared his apprehensions. In any case, Akshay wasn’t forcing anyone to accept his ideas”, says Rohan while putting a full stop to all controversies.

Salman Khan is still popular at the age of 43

Salman Khan has a vivacious personality and is the heartthrob of almost everyone. He is in Bollywood film industry from last 20 years and has done more than 70 films.

Miss World first runner-up Parvathy Omanakuttan said, “I am very fond of Salman Khan and I would really like to do a film opposite Salman Khan. I have a big time crush on him.”

Salman Khan has won two Filmfare Awards consisting of best debut for “Maine Pyar Kiya” and best supporting actor for “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. Besides being a good actor he is a good painter as well. Salman Khan is the fourth Indian actor to have been a wax statue in the Madame Tussauds museum in London.

Subhash Ghai said, “I must say that Salman Khan has a heart of gold. When I was teaming up with him, I did not feel that I am working with a super star. I felt I am working with a younger brother.”

According to singer Sonu Nigam, “We are familiar with his perfect six-pack abs and the upper body muscles, but fans have yet to see his muscular legs, which are so perfect. I think he should expose his legs too.”

After ‘A Wednesday’, Naseer, Anupam flooded with offers

Mumbai, Dec 23 (IANS) After the success of ‘A Wednesday’, Naseeruddin Shah, 58, and Anupam Kher, 54, are flooded with offers for films highlighting the adventures of the fifty-plus brigade.

While the former isn’t biting the bait, Anupam is making hay while the sun shines.

‘I keep telling Naseer we’re the new rock stars of Bollywood,’ joked Anupam. I’m so happy that ‘A Wednesday’ has made such an impact,’ Anupam told IANS.

‘I’m at this very moment shooting for ‘Carry On, Pandu’ with Om Puri. Om and I earlier did a remake of ‘Victoria 203′ with us playing Ashok Kumar and Pran’s parts. I think it should’ve come after ‘A Wednesday’. ‘Pandu’ is being directed by very well-known Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni,’ he added.

Hindi filmmakers are planning several films with the two new ‘rock stars’, including a sequel to ‘A Wednesday’.

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has started shooting for his next film What’s Your Rashee?, a romantic comedy starring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja and says he always wanted to make a fun film. “It is a genre that I have always loved and I had always wanted to attempt,” Gowariker said in a press statement. Gowariker, who has mostly helmed larger-than-life or realistic films like Lagaan, Swades and Jodhaa Akbar, is trying his hand at comedy for the first time. “My favourite films of this genre are Roman Holiday and When Harry Met Sally, amongst several others. I’m also a great fan of Chupke Chupke and all romantic comedies of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee,” he said. Based on a Gujarati novel Kimball Ravenswood by noted playwright Madhu Rye, the film that revolves around a young Gujarati man in pursuit of his dream girl, who he must find within 10 days to save his family from an unforeseen ordeal, went on floors on Saturday. What’s Your Rashee? is being jointly presented by UTV Motion Pictures and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions. While the lyrics are being penned by Javed Akhtar, Nitin Desai is looking after art direction and Neeta Lulla has designed the costumes.

It is a story about a big businessman (Aamir) who falls in love with a model (Debutante Asin). Both the protagonists work for the cause of poor but end up in trouble when Asin exposes the women trafficking racket in Mumbai. In a retaliatory attack by the pimps Asin gets killed.

Aamir tries to rescue but he gets real bad head injuries that he suffers a heavy memory loss. So bad that he remembers things only for a short span. Aamir is determined to seek revenge and is assisted by a medical student (Jiah Khan) in his endeavors.

It would be really amazing to see Aamir perform the role of a amnesiac who is determined to take revenge and stop female trafficking. Aamir is the kind of actor who will pay attention to even the minutest expression of his character.

Katrina Kaif does not consider herself as hot

Recently Katrina Kaif was given the title ‘sexiest Asian woman’ by Eastern Eye, a leading British publication for the South Asian community. Although her wellwishers would agree with the title, the actress herself begs to differ.

Katrina Kaif said, “I don’t find myself as the sexiest woman in Asia.
Maybe the way I define sexy is different from the general definitions. Maybe the people who have voted for me think differently from me. The beautiful thing about this world is that there are so many different opinions.”

Commenting on the news about the most searched celebrity on Google she revealed, “I’m very surprised. I really didn’t expect this. Google is the only thing I know on the Internet. I don’t know much about Internet. I didn’t project myself in any one way. I’ve projected myself the way my projects have allowed me to. Sallu’s always been this way for friends will promote Aamir’s Ghajini outright. On Sunday night, Salman Khan was present at a private screening of Aamir Khan’s Ghajini at Mukesh Ambani’s home. The actor has given his stamp of approval for the same. Salman is known to promote the films of his contemporaries. He did it when Shahrukh’s Don had released along with Salman’s Jaan-E-Mann and is now promoting Aamir Khan’s Ghajini on every platform available.

Says a source present at the screening, “Salman and Aamir have been spending a lot of time together. Last Thursday, Aamir was at Salman’s home till the wee hours of the morning. On Sunday morning (December 21), Aamir invited Salman to a special preview of Ghajini at Neeta and Mukesh Ambani’s home

The entire Khan daan was present, along with Sallu’s girlfriend Katrina Kaif.” Also present at the screening were Vinod Khanna and Nirmal and wife Chhaya Momaya.” Salman loved the film can’t stop raving about it. He not only told Aamir about how much he loved Ghajini but was discussing the finer nuances of Aamir’s performance as an actor. Admits Salman, “Yes, I saw Ghajini on Sunday and loved it! It’s true that Aamir has developed a great body for the film, but later his performance takes over the film. The length of the film is three hours but it goes so fast that you don’t know how the time has passed. After the screening, I told Aamir that the film was outstanding! The impact of Ghajini is such that it leaves you reeling even after the film is over and the effect doesn’t go away for some time. I have told Aamir that Ghajini will be huge hit.”
